We are selling our Ford Mondeo Demo Car.

Finished in Stardust Metallic Silver this 2005 Ford Mondeo LX TDCi 115hp 5 speed Manual Estate has been owned by us since December 2008.

First registered 22/10/2005 it was "pre-registered" on a 55 plate to Ford Motor Co for 4 days when ownership was transferred to Lex Vehicle Leasing on the 26/10/2005. It was owned by them until the 21/12/2008 when i bought it.

After getting the car i fitted a couple of upgrades immediately, namely a Ghia/Titanium spec Leather Steering wheel to replace the horrid plastic one, and a set of genuine Focus Titanium 18" alloys in the correct PCD and Offset for the car, with 225/40 ZR 18's, as per Titanium X/ST mondeos run. At the same time i had the shock absorbers replaced with genuine items, and the coil springs were replaced with the genuine Ford spec Eibach kit (Ford FINIS code 1132336). Eibach being the "rolls royce" of springs, these are comfortable and provide awe inspiring roadholding.

Shortly after that i was fortunate to come across a 56 plate ST TDCI half leather interior for sale, from a car with approx 70,000 miles less than this one, and that was duly fitted. There is minimal wear to this interior.

As a stereo car, it has been comprehensively sound deadened, with lots of mat applied to doors, floors and roof, as well as additional underfloor soundproofing and roof void sealing to make this considerably quiter and more pleasent than a stock car.

The car has MOT through to August 2012, and it has passed all its MOT's with myself without any advisories, testament i hope to the fact that i have maintained it without any cost constraints, pre-emptively carrying out work when appropriate.

The car has a full service history, with all works being undertaken by Ford dealers until 100k when i got the car and subsequently i have used a well known MK independant garage to do all the work for me, using parts I have supplied, always genuine or OEM specification.  This list of services and work is as follows:

The car is due an oil and all filters change as well as a rear ARB drop link, and these will be done prior to sale.

Now the milage showing is 149,000 approx, which while higher than average should be of no concern as i have had all the "known weak" mondeo parts replaced already - here is a list of the remedial works i have done and when:

Replacement Parts Fitted in my Ownership

100000    01/02/2009     New OEM shocks and genuine Ford Eibach springs fitted.

100000    01/02/2009    New thermostats, water pump, power steering pump and coolant fully replaced (Genuine)

110000    24/06/2009    Gearbox Oil replaced with genuine Ford specification oil.

126800    17/04/2010    New 2 piece Clutch Kit, Dual Mass Flywheel, Concentric Slave Cylinder, (LUK) Auxilliary Belt (Gates), Bottom Crank Pulley and Auxilliary Belt Tensioner (Genuine).

131400    10/07/2010    New Starter (Genuine) fitted - turned out to be corroded terminal not starter motor but new one left on!

134000    01/09/2010    New Genuine MAF fitted.

135000    22/09/2010    New Genuine Alternator fitted.

149000    01/09/2011    New Jaguar uprated oil cooler thermostat fitted.

As you can see the "biggies" of the Clutch, Dual Mass Flywheel and slave Cylinder were replaced with Genuine spec parts just 24'000 miles ago, and at the same time i elected to get the lower crank pulley, auxilliary belt tensioner and the belt itself replaced with the Gates Micro V ultra high spec parts.

Being both a late production and a 115hp model as opposed to the troublesome earlier and or 130hp models, it does not suffer from injector issues, and the car runs cleanly and smoothly at all revs with no black smoke issues like so many mondeos. It is a 5 speed so also has the stronger MTX75 transaxle, and the box changes smoothly and cleanly through the gears.

I have also blanked off the EGR at both the EGR and Manifold ends and removed the EGR pipework, something well documented to enhance both turbocharger and injector life, as well as giving fuel effeciency a welcome boost and sorting out some of the running issues around the 1800 rev mark that are documented on these cars. Being a Euro IV spec car this causes the engine light to be illuminated, however i have a code reader and will happily show you the only fault code displayed (P0401) is relating to this. If you clear it it stays off for about 250 miles - so its up to you whether you want to clear it with a £20 reader off ebay or live with the light. I live with the light as it doesnt annoy me. It seems ironic i have made the car run cleaner, more economically, more smoothly and more powerfully than stock but it throws a code.

I have recently changed the Oil Cooler thermostat to the Jaguar spec one - it opens later giving better cabin heating and faster engine warm up times, very good for winter!!!

The car has the Wingspeed decat on it - this gives better mid-high rev range performance and about 1.5mpg better economy. I average 42 in a mix of town and motorway driving, 38 around Milton Keynes and 48-51 on a run up the M1 at 60-70. It is NOT an MOT failure and has been fitted for the last 2 mot's with no issue.

The car has Electric Front windows, heated front and rear screens, cruise control, Air Conditioning that blows very cold, stereo steering wheel remote controls, electric mirrors, aux socket in the glovebox etc.

The car has graduated privacy glass fitted to it - stock tinted glass fronts, medium smoke rear doors and dark smoke rear quaters and tailgate. This gives a lovely tinted effect without it looking like a van - plus is fully legal. This was done by OG tinting of wellingborough.

Presently the car has a fairly extensive audio build in it, the car will be stripped back and put back to a close to stock condition, with just basic a-pillar tweeter builds with upgraded component speakers in the front before sale, and all wiring removed unless a request is made for some/all of it to be left.

The car will be on a 55 age related plate when sold.

There are a couple of dents in the rear tailgate and bumper and some minor paint scratches/chips as you would expect from a car of this age - but as you can see from the photo's it cleans up beautifully. There are also a couple pieces of trim which show evidence of the extensive sound deadening we performed on this car.

I am asking £1900 ovno for the car with the 18's on or £1600 ovno with the stock steel wheels fitted. The 18's have 4 x Falken Z1EX tyres fitted with 80% tread on, the stock 16's have 2 x 60% tread and 2 x 25% tread tyres.

This is an opportunity to pick up a car with all the major works done, some well chosen upgrades done and possibly a basis for a stereo vehicle, for the price of a tired normal Mondeo LX!!!!
